Arbidol Hydrochloride
Arbitol hydrochloride (AH) is chemically named 6-bromo-4 - (dimethylamino-methyl) -5-hydroxy-1-methyl-2 - (phenylthiophenyl) -1H-indole-3-carboxylic acid ethyl ester hydrochloride, where hydrochloric acid is used as a stabilizer for Arbitol, CAS number 131707-23-8, The molecular formula is C22H25BrN2O3S•HCl, and the molecular weight is 531.90. It is mainly used for the prevention and treatment of influenza A and B and other respiratory virus infections. It has the advantages of oral convenience, high safety, good compliance and no cytotoxicity, and has a wide application prospect.

Hemagglutinin is mainly found in influenza viruses, so arbidol has A good therapeutic effect on influenza A and B, while the HA protein is not present on the Novel Coronavirus, which means that the mechanism by which Arbidol blocks the entry of the virus into the human cell membrane may not be valid.
The research of Li Lanjuan, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and his team showed that in vitro cell experiments: Arbidol at 10-30 micromol concentration, compared with the untreated control group, can effectively inhibit the coronavirus up to 60 times, and significantly inhibit the pathological effect of the virus on cells.
The problem of this in vitro cell experimental study is that the concentration of 10-30 micromol is much higher than the tolerance of human body, which is difficult to achieve in human body, and there is still a gap between in vitro experiment and clinical practice. In addition to Remdesivir "People's Hope", other important clinical trials of NCOVCOVID-19 are currently under way, such as lopinavir combined with Ritonavir and arbiol in the treatment of Novel coronavirus infection, led by Professor Linghua Li from Guangzhou No. 8 People's Hospital.
